The commercialization of kiwiberry production is relatively new. Cultivation methods of the common kiwifruit have to be adapted to the temperate growing conditions of kiwiberry and, inherently, to the plant’s specific physiology and phenology. A PhD research project at the University College Ghent and Ghent University is currently being undertaken by Elly Vaes in order to get insight into these topics.

The study specifically focuses on the performance of various cultivars under different growing conditions with respect to phenology (incl. pruning effects), cold tolerance and pollen vitality.
